There are however several differences that make Pontoon a slightly more complex game than blackjack. Both of the dealers cards are dealt face down, however the dealer will check for a Pontoon (basically a Blackjack). There are two hands that can beat a 21; a Pontoon and a Five Card Trick. The Five Card Trick can total any amount below 22. Both the Pontoon and the Five Card Trick pay at 2/1.
As both of the dealers cards are dealt face down, there is no insurance against a Pontoon, additionally the player can only stand on hands totalling 15 or above, with the dealer having to hit up to 17. Aces count as 1 or 11 as you would expect, with any hands that are doubled, you may take more than one card. Should there be a draw (push), the dealer wins.
