Here’s another game from Novomatic that will have many of you feeling all nostalgic. ‘Golden Sevens’ takes us back to a time when slot games were dominated by fruit symbols. That had been the case since early in the 20th century and although their role is diminished now, they still make a very welcome comeback in a fair few games nowadays and very welcome they are indeed. This game isn’t all about nostalgia, there’s a progressive jackpot to get your hands on too and the Golden Seven is the symbol you really need to keep your eyes on.
‘Golden Sevens’ doesn’t behave totally like the games of the past. Back then players usually had to cope with just one payline and three reels of symbols. Here we have five reels, three rows of symbols and 20 paylines.
At least with the reels full or fruit and a red seven we’re guaranteed a bright looking game. No dingy Halloween style game here. Symbols include cherries, lemons, apples. Plums and melons. We also get another old favourite which is the Bell, which initially was the Liberty Bell you know. Of course there’s also the star of the game, the Golden Seven.
With all this fruit in the game, it’s handy that it can be played on your PC and your mobile devices so that’s fruit on a Blackberry!
This game nods its head to the past but there are also some more up to date features. This includes a wild symbol which can substitute for other symbols to get you wins. That’s really important here because getting wins isn’t that common an occurrence. When it does happen though, it’s usually a win that will put a big smile on your face. The wild can’t substitute for the Golden Seven as that plays the key role in winning the progressive jackpot, more about that important feature soon.
Make sure you have a glance at the paytable before playing for real. Enjoy some free games too as that will allow you to see the game in all its glory.
You’ll be keen to get your hands on the progressive jackpot in this game. Just how high that is can be seen in the box above the reels. So how do you win this? Your task is to fill all 15 reels up with Golden Seven symbols. The higher your stake, the more you can win but be careful with your financial budget and don’t blow it all trying to win this. The minimum win is 10,000x your stake. There are still some other good wins to be had in this game and they can be won even if you’re playing at just £0.01 a game. Five cherries even pay 36000x your stake.
When you do get a winning combination there’s the Gamble Feature to consider. You don’t have to go for this and if you’ve just had a really big win, make sure you keep it and get ready for the next spin. If you do go for the gamble feature, then for a change there’s no playing cards to entice and haunt you. Instead it’s the flashing ladder that gives you a chance to double your wins. You can make your way up the ladder and get a good win but if you make one mistake then that win is lost forever, so be cautious with this feature.
It’s good to see the fruit symbols, bells and sevens back, lots of good memories flood back when seeing them. The game has a bright look to it, the soundtrack didn’t drive me insane and there are certainly some good wins to be had. You might need to be a bit patient though as there’s by no means a steady stream of winning combinations. The progressive jackpot is the main target of course but don’t blow your budget trying to get hold of it. As for the gamble feature, just be careful is our perennial advice for players.
