Now I must admit that Dice on Fire does sound a little bit of a fire risk and may well incur the wrath of health and safety officials. Don’t worry though, the only danger in this slot game from Novomatic is that you might not be able to work out what to do with all the cash you win via its special features.
There are some amazingly designed slot games out there these days, but sometimes playing a game with a bit of a retro feel is just as good. The bonus here though is that Novomatic want to add some more up to date features to the slot making it a kind of crossover between the past and the present.
The background is full of flames but despite the fact that it looks reasonably attractive, it’s not the most exciting background I’ve ever had the delight of seeing. As for the game, itself, that’s a different story for sure. The graphics are a delight to look at and this game can be played on your PC or on any of the mobile devices you own. ‘Dice on Fire’ has six reels and three rows of symbols with a total of just five pay-lines. That sixth reel doesn’t seem to be doing a great deal for most of the game but when it does come alive, you’ll know it.
Back in the day (otherwise known as my childhood), you couldn’t move for fruit machines. The slot games weren’t dominated by particular themes in those days, we mainly got a load of fruit, some 7’s, bars and a bell. Those days return in ‘Dice on Fire’ though of course we also get a few dice that will cause a fire and that fire is going to be in your mouth due to the presence of some chilli peppers.
Symbols are cherries, plums, oranges, grapes, and lemons. There’s also a red 7 which if you manage to get five of on a pay-line wins you 5000 coins. To add some heat to the reels we have green, yellow, and red chilli peppers (no sign of a glass of water). Strangely, there’s no wild symbol in this slot game. There is however a scatter symbol which is the yellow star. If you get five of those anywhere on the reels that wins you 50x your stake.
Playing this game isn’t that expensive at all costing a minimum of 0.50 and a maximum of 50. You shouldn’t have a problem working out a range to play at, just ensure that playing doesn’t cause any financial worries. It’s fairly easy to set your stake for each spin of the reels. It’s also possible to set some automated spins if you need a bit of time away from the reels or just want to set a bunch of them all in one go.
On top of the reels are some dice but why? Well you need to keep an eye on the pepper symbols as some of them aren’t alone. They have a tiny dice attached to them and when one comes along, the corresponding dice above the reels will light up. Your task is to find all five dice at once and if you do, that unlocks that sixth reel. That reel only contains blanks and a six-dot dice.
It’s possible to play up to 24 free games and even better news is that there is a multiplier here that can get as high as 4x. This is one of those games where you have options to choose from, mainly deciding whether you want to put the emphasis on free games or multipliers.
You can choose to have just the six free spins but with a 4x multiplier and there’s finally a wild symbol which is the red pepper. That means it can substitute for other symbols to get you some big wins. Alternatively, you can choose the Green Pepper option which has 12 free spins with all wins doubled and the green pepper is wild. The other option sees you playing with 24 free spins at a 1x multiplier but with the yellow pepper symbol wild. The best option in my view is to go for the middle one with a dozen free spins and that 2x multiplier. It’s possible to retrigger the feature if you get a full complement of dice symbols.
Try the Spinomenal game ‘Master Panda’ as that always has just the five pay-lines and offers its players a free spin round and it’s a medium variance slot. Also, give ‘Spacemen’ from Merkur a go. Another five-pay line slot on a 5×3 grid that has a free spins round and an almost identical RTP but unlike this game actually has a wild symbol.
Here’s a game that has a retro feel but uses 21st century gameplay to help get you some good wins. There will be dry periods but when the free spins round or the sixth reel are activated there are some good chances of getting wins in ‘Dice on Fire.’ It’s not quite hot stuff but worth a play.
