In Bloom review

Flowers are a godsend to designers of slot games aren’t they? They look beautiful so if you can get your designs right then you create a game that’s great to look at. Throw in some excellent features and another popular game is born. That’s just what IGT have done with ‘In Bloom’, great to look at, great to play.

There are five-reels in this game with three rows of symbols and 40 paylines. That’s a fixed amount so all you have to do is work out your stake per spin. That ranges from £0.50 to £100, slightly more expensive but it is worth It thanks to the two bonus features.

The backdrop to the reels shows a lovely looking garden that has had a lot of attention paid to it. It certainly looks better than the allotment my family used to have, anything to save on vegetable costs. Anyway this really adds to the look of the game and boy is it colourful.

The same can definitely be said for the symbols in this game. There are Poppies, Calla Lillies, Roses and Water Lillies all looking absolutely gorgeous. There’s also the Nine to Ace playing card symbols, too many really, let’s have some more flowers please. The scatter symbol here is a butterfly and can help get you into the profitable bonus game. Strangely there’s no wild symbol at all here so no wild flowers I guess.

Make sure you know exactly how this game works before you start putting some money in. Have a look through the game rules and the paytable to boost your knowledge. A few free games will also help you work out just how this game runs and how you can get some good wins. If you want some time away from the reels to give your eyes a break or sort out that troublesome bush in the garden, get some automated spins. The Autospin button down the bottom right of the screen sets between ten and 50 automated spins.

During the base game there’s the In Bloom Line feature. This crops up every time you get a win. This Symbol Boost sees each flower blooms into more flowers when it forms a winning combination. This means three, four or even five can change into a possible combination of 15 blooms. 15 roses wins you 1000x times your line bet so definitely something to aim for.

The number of blooms depends on the reel that is involved. One or two flowers turn up on all reels, three only appear on the second, third and fourth reels, four and five flowers appear only on the third reel.

Bonus Game

The scatter symbol only appears on the third reel but if two or more turn up then this triggers the Garden Bonus. Firstly, you need to pick a flower and this will reveal just how many free spins you receive. This can be between five and 12 free spins and the more valuable the flower, the lower the number of free spins. The poppy gets you five free spins, the rose takes that up to eight, the Calla Lily awards you ten free spins and the water lily 12. During the free spins only the flower you’ve chosen appears on the reels.

At the end of the free spins you’re taken to another screen and here you have to choose another symbol. This reveals a multiplier for all those wins you’ve just had and this can be between 1x and 50x.

Even if there’s only one scatter symbol on the third reel you could still get into the bonus round. Look out for a butterfly to flutter down and change one of the other symbols on the third reel into a scatter symbol.

Conclusion

An interesting game for sure. The two bonus features can be profitable and it’s strange to play a game that doesn’t have a wild in sight. Definitely recommended if you fancy something a little bit different.
