Firehouse Hounds review

If I lived in an area where the local fire service was operated by dogs, then I might be a little bit worried. I’d definitely make sure the oven was switched off before I went out, that is for sure. Well, fire-fighting dogs are the theme in ‘Firehouse Hounds’ and it’s definitely a game that will put a big smile on your face, not just when you get a good win.

This IGT game has some great animation in it. In front of the reels there are two not very intelligent looking dogs In their fire-fighting gear. They have a hose in their paws and both have a fire hydrant next to them. Now we all know what dogs tend to do in their vicinity but thankfully there’s none of that going on here. As you’ll read though they do have a purpose and you’ll be glad when they do what they do. At the top of the wall that the dogs are standing in front of, there’s a view of the city (none of which is on fire thankfully) and another fire-fighter.

This is a five-reel game that has three rows and a total of 30 fixed paylines. Your decision therefore is to decide your stake for each spin of the reels. Wins in this game are paid from left to right and right to left, so that’s really going to help you. Playing the game costs between £0.40 and £40 so finding a comfortable level to play at shouldn’t be a problem.

Symbols in the game are a fire hydrant, a first-aid box, a fire extinguisher, a fire axe, a hose and a helmet. In addition, there are five 7’s in a variety of colours.

There’s also a gold ‘Wild’ on a purple background and this can substitute for other symbols to get you some healthy wins. As you’ll soon find out, the wilds will get a bit of help as the game goes along. The bonus symbol is the fire bell and this only makes appearances on the second, third and fourth reels.

Look out for the Wild Fire Feature. This happens randomly during the base game as one of those hounds uses his hose to douse flames. It’ll be either the first or fifth reel that has this happen to it but if you’re lucky both dogs will help and both reels go wild.

Take a good look through the paytable and the game rules to learn as much about the game as you can. Some free games will also assist you in getting used to how the game runs. If you want some time away from the screen, you can set between ten and fifty automated spins.

Bonus Features

Some free spins are never going to be turned away are they? In this game the free spins round is triggered when three of the five bell symbols appear anywhere on the second, third and fourth reels. Just how many free spins you get now has to be determined.

To do this you need to click the fire poles and you can win either four, five or six free spins to try and win some cash with. An added bonus during the free spins is that during them the first and fifth reels are completely wild. That really increases your chances of getting some winning combinations. Even better if three or more fire bells arrive on the reels again you can win more free spins.

Conclusion

This is a really fun game to play. The whole idea of dogs being in charge of the fire service is definitely a strange one but it’s a good laugh. The Wild Fire Feature and the Free Spins can certainly give your account balance great help.
