If you love dice, then this is the game for you. Slot games often have symbols that are based on movies or fairy-tales with a bit of geographical travel thrown in for good measure. In ‘Caramel Dice’ though all we get are dice and if you also adore retro style games, then this is the one for you.
We’ve reviewed several EGT slot games on this site and despite the strange symbols, this nearly follows the usual gameplay formula that other games such as ‘Route of Mexico’ and ‘Amazon’s Story’ follow. That means you can look forward to trying and get big wins via a progressive jackpot and gamble feature but unlike those games there are no free spins to be chasing in this slot which is a bit disappointing.
From the moment, you see this game, you know this is a little bit different. It’s a five-reel game that has three rows of symbols and they are dominated by dice. The game has a caramel coloured background, it looks ok but nothing too special. The reels look pretty much the same as other EGT games we have reviewed. That means down the left and right hand side of the reels are the meters that allow you to decide how many of the 30 pay-lines you want to activate for the next spin of the reels.
You can choose to either activate just a single pay-line, five, ten, twenty or all thirty of the pay-lines. The stake you gamble is set by using the control buttons that are situated underneath the reels. As soon as you decide your stake by using the shortcuts, the spins will reel so no chance of changing your mind. The minimum stake is 30 credits and the maximum 150 if playing all the pay-lines. That maximum figure isn’t as high as in some EGT games. Simply opt for a budget that you can safely afford to play.
So, to the symbols and it’s dice heaven. They do look great though and you almost look at them and fancy getting a board game out. Leave that to later though as this slot can be far more profitable. ‘Caramel Dice’ is a low volatility game so get ready for plenty of wins but the big wins won’t be coming along too often but they are well worth waiting for. There ae six dice symbols with the dots rather than numbers. Then there are the 7,8 and 9 numbered dice.
There is a wild symbol in this game and that’s a dice (surprise, surprise) which has the number 7 on it. This can substitute for all of the other symbols in the game aside from the scatter symbol which is the red dice (the shocks keep on coming) as that would help win you the top prize in this slot. The wild can certainly help get you some wins thanks to its substituting abilities. The red scatter symbol must feel a little bit redundant as it doesn’t have a free spins round to trigger. It can produce some good wins though and five anywhere on the reels will win you 200x your stake. That means 30,000 credits if playing at the maximum level.
There’s no free spins round in this slot but as in many EGT games, there is a progressive jackpot to try and win. You don’t even have to be chasing this as it appears randomly. Above the reels, you will see four figures that show you how much each of the four jackpot levels are on that spin. Those four levels are in ascending order, the club, diamond, heart, and spade (the four suits in a pack of playing cards). When the Jackpot Card Mystery Bonus does crop up, it’s a pick ‘em game. 12 playing cards and the first of the suits to get three matching symbols is the level you win.
There is also a gamble feature in this slot. When a win comes along you can decide whether to keep it or take the gamble. This only applies to wins less than 5250 credits but it is a bit of a risky feature. It’s the usual guess the colour of the next card game. Get it right and double your win, make the wrong choice and lose your win. Just be careful with this.
If you just can’t get enough of slot games featuring dice, try another EGT slot entitled ’20 Super Dice.’ This also features a progressive jackpot and a gamble feature with no free spins round in sight. ‘World Cup Heroes’ from IGT has the same number of pay-lines on a 5×3 grid as does ‘Caramel Dice’ as well as a wild that appears on every reel.
An interesting game from EGT and even though the lack of a free spins round is a disappointment, there are still plenty of good reasons to lay it. The progressive jackpot and chance of that big scatter win are two very good reasons. Be careful with that gamble feature though as it’s just too risky to keep taking the gamble involved.
