Rainbow Riches Pick n Mix is the latest Rainbow Riches slot machine release from SG-Gaming, currently doing the round on Ladbrokes and Coral FOBT terminals with a £500 jackpot. Rainbow Riches Pick n Mix uses enhanced, higher detailed graphics than its predecessors, with bigger, bolder symbols giving a fresh new look to this ever aging gaming franchise.
Pick n Mix uses all of the best and most popular themes and features from other Rainbow Riches slot machines, combining them all for a game that you can customise to your liking. The price of play varies, from 25p per spin right up to a massive £50 for a single spin on Mega Game mode. The jackpot however remains constant, at the legal limit of £500.
When you first start-up Rainbow Riches Pick n Mix, you are given several options on the features you would like included in your game; you have to select three out of five choices. Most players will recognise all of the feature games on offer as they have been brought back from earlier versions of the Rainbow Riches collection. There is the traditional and popular Leprechaun’s Road to Riches, the Magic Toadstool bonus, Free Spins bonus, the Fields of Gold bonus and the most popular of them all, the Pots of Gold bonus. Choose which three you would like in your game, and Rainbow Riches Pick n Mix will then be customised to you for the duration of your play.
You have less chance of winning some features over others as their values can often be significantly more. The Magic Toadstool bonus and Road to Riches have an equal value, however the Free Spins are valued higher. Then you have the Pots of Gold and the Fields of Gold bonus features which have an equally high value. Therefore you can assume that a selection Free Spins, Fields of Gold and Pots of Gold as your chosen features will result in less feature action in the long term, but you can shuffle them around and pick whatever takes your fancy for that particular session. My personal favourite selection is Road to Riches, Pots of Gold and Free Spins.
Once you are happy with your selection, play the game at your chosen stake with up to 20 winlines active depending on your price of play. There is a gamble option, but it has been modified and now takes the form of the gamble from the Big Cheese, with three selectable pies each displaying different odds. You can either collect, part-collect or gamble the lot up to the maximum £500 jackpot.
Aside from the gamble, you’ll likely notice a few other differences when playing Rainbow Riches Pick n Mix. For a start there are no Wishing Wells, but also, those familiar with the Fields of Gold slot machine will know that the free spins symbols act as wilds. This is not the case here, they are either Free Spins or nothing, so that cuts back on a lot of the base game reel wins. The biggest change however comes from the Mega Game..
The Mega Game enhances the gameplay and allows of stakes from £20 up to £50 per spin. Instead of spinning reels, the Mega Game takes the form of the bonus gamble, with three options depending on the features you selected when the game first started up.
The higher your Mega Game stake, the better the odds or the greater the feature. For example a £20 Mega Game may offer the gamble for the Road to Riches bonus, with the odds largely in your favour. Upping your stake to £30 will further increase the odds. Upping to £40 will upgrade the feature to Super Road to Riches, but your odds will be shorter, or increase the Mega Game to £50 to have slightly better odds on the Super Road to Riches feature.
You are under no commitment when you check out the odds, and the odds you see are the odds you get, they do not change unless you change your stake. Once you press the gamble dial you are then committed, but up to that point you can flick through them to see if you fancy your chances.
For the Fields of Gold and Pots of Gold bonus on Mega Game, you have a small chance of getting it as these features often pay larger amounts, but for games like the Magic Toadstool bonus and Road to Riches, you will get the feature most of the time. It is certainly an interesting concept, but it does take the fun out of playing the game.
There are five features to choose from, two of which have an upgraded Super mode which usually results in enhanced wins.
Road to Riches: Three Leprechaun’s will play the Road to Riches features. Check out the original Rainbow Riches guide here to learn more about this feature.
Super Road to Riches: Four Leprechaun’s awards an enhanced Road to Riches feature with the majority of wins doubled. Your average value here is between £25 and £50, so not that great if you are playing a £50 Mega Game for the feature. Five Leprechaun’s pays the jackpot.
Magic Toadstool: Three mushrooms awards the Magic Toadstool feature. Select mushrooms to find cash values and fairies for larger wins. Take a look at the Rainbow Riches Fields of Gold page here to learn more about this feature.
Super Magic Toadstool: Landing four mushrooms anywhere in view upgrades the feature to super mode, with larger winning hidden behind each mushroom.
Ending either feature with one or more picks remaining doubles the cash prize. Five mushrooms automatically pays the jackpot.
Free Spins: This feature has been lifted from Rainbow Riches Free Spins and is activated by landing three or more free spins symbols on reels one, three and five.
Three bonus symbols awards 10 free games, four awards 20 free games and five awards 30 free games. The feature can be re-triggered during the bonus and is a high value feature often resulting in wins in excess of £100.
Fields of Gold: This version is slightly different than its original, with the bonus symbols scattered across all five reels rather than the original centre three. Land three Fields of Gold bonus symbols to be awarded the high value feature, with 50 rotating coins. All coins facing outwards pay a prize, with the chance to move to the next level. Level two is similar but uses higher valued coins, again totalling the combined value then offering the chance to move to the final level which features very high valued coins and should result in a prize in excess of £300. Landing four Fields of Gold icons awards a Super version of the feature, starting with higher valued coins from the beginning. Landing five will pay the jackpot.
Pots of Gold: Everyone knows how this works, however this one is more in keeping with Rainbow Riches Pure Pots rather than the traditional Rainbow Riches. Offering the chance to win one of three pots (bronze, silver or gold) with three feature symbols in view. Four in view removes the bronze pots and offers an equal chance of winning either the silver or gold pots. Once again, five matching bonus symbols pays the £500 jackpot.
This is definitely a good take on the Rainbow Riches theme, and offers the players a choice when it comes to how they want to play their game. It’s an interesting concept and is sure to be adopted by other slots in the future.
