Gold Rush Showdown review

This is another great game from Ash Gaming with some excellent graphics and the soundtrack certainly fits in well with the wild west theme. There’s gold to be found in this game and if you can help the prospectors then you can really be counting your winnings. ‘Gold Rush Showdown’ is a five-reel and 20 payline video slot game. The stake varies from £0.01 to £500. You might have already found some gold and can perfectly afford to lose £500 on one spin of the reel. If that’s not the case, then just go for an amount that suits your playing budget, maybe just play for fun. The symbols include a sheriff’s badge, Prospector Pete, a bag of gold, Billy the Quid, a horse, a red bull, a pair of pistols, Lucky Lucy, spurs, a cowboy hat and a Mexican bandit. No playing cards here which is always a good sign of a game that wants to play up to its theme as much as possible. The red bull is the wild symbol in this game and lets out a loud moo when turning up on the reels. This substitutes for all the other symbols in the game with the exception of the scatters. If you can get five wilds all the way along the reels then you can win a jackpot which is 1000x the bet you’ve made on that payline.

Once you’ve had a win there’s another big decision to make and it’s not just whether you press the mute button to stop the cow mooing and the horse neighing. You have the opportunity to gamble all or part of your winnings. Again this is the choose the colour of the next card or the next suit where you can double and quadruple your winnings. The control buttons needed to operate the game are down at the bottom of the screen. Here you can set your stake and the number of lines you want to play. The amount you win and the up to date amount of your balance are there too. You can also set an AutoPlay if you fancy a few moments away from the computer or mobile device. This can go up to 25 spins.

Bonus Games

If you can get three or more of the Prospector scatter symbols anywhere on the reels it’s time to celebrate. That’s because this gets you a special jackpot and a Pick ’em bonus game. Here you have to choose from five areas on a map for the prospector to start digging up. You win cash for each of the areas he digs in. All good western movies had a great shoot-out scene between the hero and the villain (even ‘Carry On Cowboy’), this slots game is no exception to that rule. If the Cowboy appears on reel one and the Bandit anywhere on the other four reels then that triggers the shoot-out. You can operate this yourself or just let the computer do all the work for you. Each bandit hit wins you a cash prize. When the Bandit King makes an appearance and gets shot you win the proceeds of his loot. If that happens to be three diamonds then you’ve just won the progressive jackpot.

Conclusion

The bonus games in ‘Gold Rush Showdown’ really make this an excellent video slots game to play. There’s nothing better than a good old western shoot-out and even more enjoyable if it means you can win some money at the same time.
